Ben S. inquired, "Would you quit your job if elected to the State Legislature?"
No. I believe that it is beneficial for a legislator to maintain their individual involvement in the community because it keeps the legislature from becoming detached from the day-to-day realities facing their constituents. Not only that, but I also enjoy my job and take a lot of pride in being involved with safe and healthy at commnities throughout Tennessee. It’s also important to know that the legislature is not a full-time job, and the legislative session lasts for only a part of the calendar year. – JASON
Maria A. asked: “Are you going to sign any of those pledges such as the pledge to never raise taxes, or any other pledge?"
If there was a pledge asking me to pledge to always put the needs and well-being of Tennesseans as my top priority, then I'd gladly sign it. However, most of those pledges are written by organizations seeking political ammunition. More importantly however, is that outside of pledging to serve my fellow Tennesseans every day, pledging to forever limit myself from considering available legislative methods that could effectively be used to solve future, yet unknown problems that may arise is irresponsible for any legislator to consider. – JASON
Laura C. emailed: “Hey Jason, I got your most recent mail and I’m just curious… What are the names of your dogs?”
I love animals! We currently have two dogs and a cat. Our oldest dog, Sparky, was adopted from the Nashville Humane Association. Sparky is a seven-year-old Labrador and boxer mix. We rescued our five-year-old Shepherd mix, Lucy, from the streets of Nashville after she was abandoned as a puppy. Thanks to our friends at Value Vet on Nolensville Road, she was given great medical care and is now a healthy and active dog. Animal welfare is very important to me. Our cat’s name is Hadley and we found her abandoned in a local park one hot summer day six years ago. – JASON
Chris F. asked: “Do you live in the District?”
Yes, I live on Lynn Drive in the Caldwell Abbay-Hall Neighborhood with my beautiful wife, Heather, and 1-year old daughter, Sophie. It’s odd that I’m asked this question; I think it’s insincere for a person to represent the people in a district that the candidate doesn’t even live in. I’m a proud resident of District 53! - JASON
Steve C. wanted to know, "Do you walk with Christ?"
Yes, I baptized at St. Matthias church, here in District 53. - JASON
